It's not uncommon for moviemakers to leave behind sets and props after they've finished filming. The discarded movie artifacts get rather weird in the following photos.

1. The Hunger Games (2012)

This is a photo from the slums of District 12. These scenes were filmed in an already abandoned textile community at Henry River Mill Village, North Carolina, from around the 1920s.

2. Pirates Of The Carribean (2003)

The scenes for Port Royale from "The Pirates of the Caribbean" were filmed in Wallilabou Bay on the island of St. Vincent in the Caribbean Sea. It still looks like a bona-fide village with cannons.

3. Bates Motel ( 2013)

Even though this is just a set, the Bates Motel is still a nerve-wracking reminder of the twisted history of Norman Bates in his pre-"Psycho" years. The site still stands eerily in nearby Aldergrove, British Columbia.

4. Batman (1989)

Buckhamshire, England, was the home for the remains of Gotham City from the 1989 "Batman" film.

5. Field Of Dreams (1989)

This is the mythical baseball diamond where the ghosts of players may still come for a game of ball every so often. You can still visit the site today in Dyersville, Iowa, where the original homestead and field still exist.

6. Iron Man (2008)

This is the cave where Iron Man was captured and held hostage. It was portrayed as Afghanistan in the movie, but it was actually in California.

7. Big Fish (2003)

This is the remains of the town Spectre from "Big Fish." From the looks of it, the set was left on purpose to haunt you as it slowly, if ever, turns to dust. It is actually located near Montgomery, Alabama.

The diner from "Looper" still stands abandoned near Napoleonville, Louisiana.

9. Lone Star (1996)

The tiny mission from "Lone Star" can still be found near Contrabando, Texas.

10. Lord Of The Rings (2001)

Much of the "Lord of the Rings" was filmed in New Zealand, and that does not exclude Hobbiton and Bag End. You can actually go take tours of Hobbiton if you visit New Zealand.

11. Popeye (1980)

Robin Williams' "Popeye" was filmed on-location in a small village built for the movie in Melliena, Malta. When filming ended, the set was left standing to save money.

12. Star Wars (1977)

The iconic Mars-like Tattoine set still stands in the Grande Dunes of Tunisia and Morocco. Ultra-dry conditions have allowed sets from the original movies and the prequels to still exist somewhat untouched in the desert.

This is the aged remains of the Plaszow labor camp and it's almost as haunting as the actual camp. The remains can be found in Krakow, Poland.

14. The Abyss (1989)

This unfinished Cherokee Nuclear Plant outside of Gaffney, South Carolina, is where James Cameron set up his undersea filming for "The Abyss."

The train crash scene from "The Fugitive" left an actual train carcass near Asheville, North Carolina.

16. Blues Brothers (1980)

In order to completely wreck a mall, the filmmakers chose to shoot the mall scene in "Blues Brothers" at the previously abandoned Dixie Square Mall in Harvey, Illinois.

17. Full Metal Jacket (1987)

This location is from one of the most intense scenes when one of the squad members gets shot and they need to investigate and clear the town. It was shot in the abandoned Beckton Gas Works in London, England, even though it appeared as Vietnam in the film.

18. M*A*S*H (TV, 1970)

Malibu Creek State Park just south of Los Angeles was the home of the TV show M*A*S*H. Some relics, like this signpost, still remain.

19. The Hills Have Eyes (2006)

Much of this movie was filmed deep in the deserts of Morocco in Souss-Massa-Draa. It turned out to be cheaper to leave behind many of the props.

When spaghetti-westerns were all the rage, this set in the middle of the Tabernas Desert in Spain was the set for more than 200 movies, including "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly."

In the swamps of Cypress Gardens, South Carolina, the leftover Spanish Mission from "The Patriot" still remains.
